Spatial Awareness
Project Preparation 2014
We have decided to focus on the same research questions:
1) How does Forced Ents experiment with multimedia in order to alienate and expose an audience?
2) What criticism does Forced Ents face as an ensemble and how can we address these in our own work?
3) How can we experiment with durational performances? And what pressures does this nature of performance put on performers? (this is something we haven’t explored before and so it will be interesting to see how we, as a group, cope with these new demands)
Group
We have decided to stay as one large group. As the group is fairly small we feel it would be beneficial to work together as a collaborative.
Out of today’s discussion we have thought further about exploring the idea of a durational performance.
In regards to working with text we recognised a particular interest in the idea of “speeches” and “speculation” these are areas we would explore further through generating text. A focus on opposites and contrasts was also of interest.
As a group we shared an interest in Objects and they how they could perhaps become the hypothesis of the performance.
Concerns moving forward
A concern we recognised was how a lot of the material generated in the last teaching block was funny. W e are cautious that we don’t try to make something “funny” we want to address serious moments and have natural humour as and when.
Review and dicussion of work
We have arranged to meet on Thursdays 1-3pm. This time is dedicated solely to review our recorded material from the previous Monday. Rooms will be booked in block and everyone is in agreement that is a key part to our process. Everyone has said this is a suitable time and date for review and everyone will be in full attendance.
Shows we are going to watch
Tomorrow’s parties. – To explore how forced Ents have looked at possibilities.
Speak Bitterness - watch again with the new knowledge we now have. We can no view this in a more critical manner.
We are all going to research reviews and identify areas of critique which we want to address in our work.
